I kind of celebrated yesterday and escaped the studio to see the AMERICAN WOMAN show at the Met. I bought one of these faux lipstick pens at the show...
You stand in the middle of a round room, bombarded by changing videos of accomplished American women plus pop music.
The video is below.
Hey Met you're getting with the program! BRAVO! Everyone makes a fuss about what to eat on your b'day...
Everyone usually has birthday cake...
I'd rather have a Paris eclair...

Instead I'll have a New York hot dog loaded with sauerkraut sold on the street corner.
Leaving the Met yesterday I saw this American Girl...
I'd rather walk in this French girl's shoes wouldn't you?
Thank you Cindy for sending some virtual home-made macarons yesterday!
And here's a presie for you. Fauchon's top pastry chef, Christophe Adams has a delightful blog. This is Christophe's witty sketch. Do take a look!
I bought a new book yesterday, The Beautiful Fall by Alicia Drake and I'm loving every page of it - full of delicious insight into Paris' two master designers,YSL et Karl during the wild 70's.
Who knew they were once chums?
'As adolescents, the Algerian-born Saint Laurent and the German-born Lagerfeld studied at a Paris trade school for couturiers, where, in 1954, they each won prizes in an international fashion competition. By taking both first and third place in the dress design category, the 18-year-old Saint Laurent outshone his friend Lagerfeld, who was three years his senior. Before long, Saint Laurent was designing for couture’s undisputed master, Christian Dior, while Lagerfeld toiled in obscurity at lesser houses.'
A terrific review in the NYTimes..
There's another book soiree at Rizzoli's tomorrow evening if you're in NYC. 'Yvon' wandered the streets of Paris between the wars, capturing the shifting light and these evocative photos...
