A vision in red on the roof of the Élysée Palace, in Paris

Casually Chic on the set of Woody Allen's upcoming movie 'Midnight in Paris'

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is a woman of many talents.  She is a model, musician, first lady of France and a global style icon.   Her style is sophisticated and effortlessly glamorous.  It's no secret she has a love affair with parisian fashion house, Dior, for most official engagements.

The French first lady sites Audrey Hepburn and Jane Birkin as women whose style she admires.

BEAR has let it be know that he'd like to be 'in the picture' so to speak...

BEAR Loves Roses, Fraises, Macarons, Watercolor, 9" x 11"

~

Speaking of roses, Parisien jeweler, Victoire de Castellane also loves roses and has an exhibit of rare flowers at the Gagosian Galerie on 4 Rue Ponthieu 75008 until March 22nd.

Photos by Thierry Depagne

The display is quite sensational...
Jeweled flowers...
Under glass domes...
As they well deserve...
Castellane designed jewelry for Chanel for 14 years...
And then moved on to Dior in 1998...
As the first Creative Director of the jewelry department...
Basically self-taught, Castellane made her first piece of jewelry at the age 5 by wrecking a precious brooch of her mothers and making it into earrings.
She adores playing with unusual materials and the unexpected...
Toys and whimsey are a constant source of inspiration.
Don't miss hearing her speak...

I took this shot in October of Galeries Lafayette rather early Xmas tree...
The rest of the Paris Xmas window photos are THANKS to Anne Corrons of MesVitrines NYC.
Please click on the photos to see more detail and immerse yourself in Paris vitrines!
MERCI ANNE!!!
Galeries Lafayette First off Galeries Lafayette Rockette bears...
Galeries Lafayette And their Mama Mia musical theme -
Do not ask me what this has to do with xmas puleeze.
OTOH next door at Printemps the windows are truly magical.
I have no idea what's going on here but j'adore!
Clique and you tell me.
More mysteries...
MIAM!
Printemps does verte et rouge too
Let the soiree commence!
Chanel is sticking with a traditionally white snowy theme (of which there is plenty in Paris) and cutout doilies - tres femme blablabla
While Dior is thinking ahead and pushing post-Xmas cruise wear in their vitrines...hmmm
I'm all for Kenzo's Parisien biker yanking....
A slew of Parisien soiree-goers, perhaps over to...
Over to Repetto perhaps to get their dancing shoes?
So they can dance their way over to Jean-Paul Hevin for a portable Xmas tree of macarons non?!

Autumn Luxe

Bonjour mes amis!  I'm sorry for my absence.  My days have been filled shopping for school supplies and enjoying the last days of summer with my children before the school year begins.  I'm never quite ready to send them back.

With the 100+ temps we're having, I'm dreaming of cooler temperatures and autumn fashion!

Louboutin's fall collection is fabulous!  It really deserves it's own post.

The line waiting outside the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the Petit Palais on Friday morning. Get your ticket at FNAC please. I walzed in with no hindrance. Assuming you're planning to be in Paris..
This bow affair is one of YSL's early works at Dior.
Red lips on black velvet and a charmer. YSLs' influence by art is evident throughout the exhibit - Mondrian and Matisse...
Strong exotique influences of the Near East and Morocco, his home away from Paris is another strong theme...
Braque-influenced gowns...
YSL was such an innovator and constantly referencing sources. There's a room of just fabric swatches - YSL was a great colorist.
Pink was his favorite color.
15 rooms to view and near the end this collection of brilliant evening gowns. It's worth getting the audio tape, though it might take a week to get through..
This large room is painted black and completely covered with YSL's "Le Smoking" suits.
Sketches always catch my eyes - here The Trench.
Word out is that YSL could be quite cranky and unreasonable at times. Perhaps too much drink, drugs... There's a new book out on this aspect of his personality, Mauvais Garcon/Naughty Boy.
Yet this picture in a book of YSL with all of his French Bull Terriers won me over completely - he is so obviously gaga over his doggies.Who do you think is the boss here? Over the years, he owned an endless string of French Bulldogs, each Brindle pied, each called Moujik. Upon the death of each dog, he’d immediately acquire another named Moujik. What can one say?
BONJOUR YSL!
