I spotted Ines de la Fressange's new book, La Parisienne in La Hune's vitrine on blvd Saint-Germain in October. It was their last copy so I grabbed it and clutched it to my bosom obsessively...
Now I see Parisian Chic will be out April 5 on Amazon in English!
La Hune had a sell-out book signing for de la Fressange - her favorite stuff in the window including a Cafe de Flore table - it is right next door..
Ines has become The icon for Paris - she has that certain something no one can put their finger on - that je ne c'est quoi...
Plus she is Queen of Older French Girls(OFGs) at 53 non? As if all that weren't enough, de la Fressange has just signed a contract to be the French face of L'Oreal. "If I can be the ambassador for older women, I'm quite happy."Her beauty routine is pared down: protective day cream, Dior's Crème Abricot nail cream, no sun and lots of sleep. As for Botox and plastic surgery: "I would be too afraid I wouldn't recognise myself any more."
I'm giving you un petit gout/a little bite from the Fr. version to tide you over till April, since Ines leaves no stone unturned when it comes to insider info...
Bien sur I'll visit her Le Top 5 des Fleuristes:
Arome Paris - 196, rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine 75012
Lachaume - 10 rue Royale 75008
Moulie Fleurs - 8 Place du Palais-Bourbon 75007

Odorantes - 9 rue Madame 75006
Dani Costes Dani Roses - 239 rue Saint-Honore 75001
Ines' Shopping Pauses - where to grab a quick delicious bite...
Little details to change your style to become more Parisienne...
Le Jardin du Luxembourg blablabla...
Ines' take on Le French Trench....
And le French Sac...
If you want to see Ines in action, watch her little diaries around Paris for Roger Vivier - the next chapter will be out in April, but there are plenty of back months to watch...
BONJOUR PARISIAN CHIC!!

French Bows

The French own the bow...
They even invented ribbon!
Is wearing a bow at your back the same as having the wind at your back?
When I shot the pink trench above, the owner of Anne Elisabeth came out to check on me...was I going to steal her'bow'?
Wearing bows at the neck goes way back and why not at the neck of your perfume like Annik Goutal does here?
YSL puts bows going down the front of this cocoon.
Don't miss the YSL show if you're in Paris!!
Bows on your socks?
Sure why not?
The musee des Arts decoratif design shop puts a bow on your rain boot!
Lanvin ties a ruban in your hair...
Marc Jacobs too...
Painted on the walls, bien sur at Musee Carnavalet...Sonia is not just Queen of sweaters and queen of stripes, she is also queen of bows!
Eat what's inside the bow, not the bow please.
~
“May the wind bow always be on your back and the sun upon your face and may the winds of destiny carry you aloft to dance with the stars.”
THANK YOU FOR ALL YR KIND MESSAGES YESTERDAY!
YOU made my day :)

The line waiting outside the Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the Petit Palais on Friday morning. Get your ticket at FNAC please. I walzed in with no hindrance. Assuming you're planning to be in Paris..
This bow affair is one of YSL's early works at Dior.
Red lips on black velvet and a charmer. YSLs' influence by art is evident throughout the exhibit - Mondrian and Matisse...
Strong exotique influences of the Near East and Morocco, his home away from Paris is another strong theme...
Braque-influenced gowns...
YSL was such an innovator and constantly referencing sources. There's a room of just fabric swatches - YSL was a great colorist.
Pink was his favorite color.
15 rooms to view and near the end this collection of brilliant evening gowns. It's worth getting the audio tape, though it might take a week to get through..
This large room is painted black and completely covered with YSL's "Le Smoking" suits.
Sketches always catch my eyes - here The Trench.
Word out is that YSL could be quite cranky and unreasonable at times. Perhaps too much drink, drugs... There's a new book out on this aspect of his personality, Mauvais Garcon/Naughty Boy.
Yet this picture in a book of YSL with all of his French Bull Terriers won me over completely - he is so obviously gaga over his doggies.Who do you think is the boss here? Over the years, he owned an endless string of French Bulldogs, each Brindle pied, each called Moujik. Upon the death of each dog, he’d immediately acquire another named Moujik. What can one say?
BONJOUR YSL!
