Mini Tea Time watercolor, 9" x 11"I'm off to David Dewey's watercolor workshop in Maine next week. But I still want to paint some still lifes...
What to take with me that won't fill up too much space?
Isn't it clever of Pierre Herme to create dessert art to use in the background of my still lifes?
My suitcase is overloaded...
But for the life of me... 
I can not find my MACARONS!!! 
Oh there they are, safe and sound :)
I could use a "drink me" bottle like Alice to get very small...
To set up these %$#@! still lifes...hmmm

Did you receive the newest Pierre Herme newsletter this week announcing his new Fall chocolate collection?

Herme has a new combination macaron-bonbon!(praline macaroons in chocolate, marzipan melting, coated in dark chocolate)

Herme also has a new book out full of chocolate recipes! Only in French so far but I bet the pictures are to die for...
The surprise chocolat is a standard I think...I hope..

Pierre Herme, in his student days studied with the famed chocolatier, Robert Linxe of La Maison du Chocolat, so his chocolates are superb.

Herme maintains this small (not really that small) box of chocolates, always for 10 euros - a don't-miss! It must be for starving-dieting artists...
If you really want to go small there's this mini set of PH from a year ago or so... 
The "CARRéMENT CHOCOLAT" from a year ago - a square of perfect chocolateness if there is such a word - in the box...

Sometimes I get funny requests from PB readers...
Like the time a CEO from Mumbai wanted to special order macarons for his boss' private jet..in fact I get a lot of potential orders for macarons. If only I could bake!
Yesterday Sophia sent me these pictures! OMG! LOOK!
"I am very pleased with the way it turned out and would be delighted for you to do a post. I was even thinking of sending some photos to Laduree just for grins.I love Laduree-Rue Royale. It's always one of our first stops in Paris, but now Laduree-Bonaparte is closer (we stay at the Lutetia). I am making a very, very big dollhouse and was searching for French minis for it one day on the web. I found the facade on the website of La Boite a Joujoux, which is one of the miniatures shops in the Passage Jouffroy that I had bought from previously.
...for quite a long time and enfin...
...I took it back to my apartment for a mini photo shoot and to see if the scale was right for me to paint. The picture on the back wall is the ceiling of Laduree Bonaparte that I manipulated on the computer and then glazed with stained glass medium to add the brush strokes. The chef doll is by Marcia Blackstrom."
At 20 EUROS (!!!) (ouch ouch ouch!) I decided it was just too tiny to go with other pastries and returned it the next day with no regrets. I figured out how to make my own Laduree boxes happily :)
Et voila! The REAL thing in all it's glory...sigh

YES! I LOVE the little Laduree box on the counter. So much so, that I flirted intensely with it at the mini boutique on Ile St.Louis...The floor tiles come from the UK, the furniture is Bespaq, the pastries are by Lesley Burgess of The English Kitchen and Betty Sartorio, a French miniaturist (don't you love the macarons on the table and the little box on the counter?). I knew as soon as I saw it that it was perfect for a patisserie, so I bought it and had the box custom-made to fit. It made sense to make it a tribute to Laduree, and to paint it to look like a macaron box (I intend to stencil the swag on the sides some day).When Sophia T. contacted me to help her out with a "swag" from Laduree's boxes to decorate the walls of her miniature tableau, I'm afraid I was not much help...

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !
YEP! I figured out how to make wee little Laduree boxes!
And without out-sourcing to India or China too!
When I showed my Quelle Wrecked studio you got all dreamy about the pile of Laduree boxes and you planted a thought in my head...
Maybe I could figure out how to make these...I thought and I thought and I figured it out!
YAY!
It's true that my boxes are "bottomless" dare I say it...Ahem
Sorry Laduree. I have to go back to Boxology class and resolve this one bit of technology.
Can you tell which one is the REAL Laduree box? ? ?
You know how I love to show comparative analysis. We're very scientific here at PB, always doing research...endless research for your benefit bien sur!
