When I devoured this little passion fruit tartelette from Financier Pastries at FlowerSchool NY a few weeks ago, who knew...
Laduree Petit Fours, art at Etsy, 9" x 11"
I spent this week grappling with a Tuna fish sandwich and even more Parisien petit fours? C'est la vie...
Most people waltz into Champs-Elysees Laduree and head straight for the macaron counter. They completely miss the tray of mini petit fours by the cash register, but not me/mais pas moi.
What better way to taste a little bite of everything inhouse Laduree for less calories (like who's counting) and less dough?
These are not those horrid little sugary squares of iced yellow cake we know too well and hate, but mini tastes of framboise and religieuse bite-sized...
I made this astonishing discovery my last morning in Paris. I raced to Laduree and then raced home to shoot different setups of these sweet minis....
Naturelement I had to eat them up before racing off to catch the plane, but they were mostly fruity anyway. *Try not to race around too much when you're bringing these babies home or they'll show serious wear and tear. They ARE delicate.
Fauchon and Gerard Mulot have them too... Labels: Dalloyau, dessert alert, Fauchon, Financier Pastries, FlowerSchool NY, Laduree, petit fours

I am super excited: on Thursday Laduree are going to open their first stand alone cafe in Covent Garden. Expect sumptuous treats in pretty pastel colours. The best part is that the cafe will remain open until 11 pm on week nights. Sweet.

YAY!
Our last day in Paris was drizzly, overcast, Sunday so no one was out which is always nice :)
BEAR decided we should do a last quick run to the Champs-Elysees...
L'Arc de Triomphe...Yum
Crazy Parisien runners in the rain...What?
Last Parisien dog and a big one!
BEAR spotted a Laduree truck so we headed over...
Ha! Easter bears in the window...dreamy
Inside not so dreamy - a 30-minute wait...
For a dreamy pastry...
None the less we waited and BEAR got to take a last Metro ride in the bag.
BEAR suggested we take AirFrance Bus to Charles de Gaulle Airport since it's faster (though less scenic) then the RoisseyBus...
We got there in 20 minutes with loads of time to browse the duty-free...
BEAR badly wanted a 'I was in Moulin Rouge' T-shirt... Labels: bear, Dalloyau, Eiffel Tower, Hediard, Hermés, Laduree, Moulin Rouge, Paris dogs

Today is the 6th annual "Jour du Macaron” (Macaron Day) in France ~ an annual celebration of the delicate meringue confections that come in a rainbow of colours and fillings.
Pierre Hermé, who launched this event in 2005, will be offering free macarons in his Paris stores as will other participating members of the Relais Desserts association, which represents the top pastry chefs in the world. The other pastry shops in Paris taking part include Sadaharu Aoki, Laurent Duchêne, Jean-Paul Hévin and Arnaud Larher.
The event is also a wonderful opportunity to support Autour des Williams, a charity that funds research into rare diseases and provides assistance to those afflicted by Williams-Beuren syndrome. Donations will be accepted in each participating shop.
Macaron lovers in the U.S. can check out the official Macaron Day New York 2011 website for details

When you're lying on the floor for a week...
(Because your mattress is on the floor)
Your perspective changes...
You notice you're surrounded by all this 'Paris Trash'!
You get a tremendous urge to do something about it...
A massive clean sweep seems very appealing...
But then it occurs that perhaps others would enjoy...
These French ribbons, biz cards, Laduree napkins, Angelina shopping bags, Gerard Mulot postcards and Gawd knows what else...
Lurking within boxes and files of saved Parisien bits and pieces.
So henceforth, any PBers buying a watercolor at Etsy or from me directly, will receive a surprise Gift-with-Purchase of some of the above. I can't guarantee exactly what you'll get and supplies are limited, but I promise it will be pretty and fun.
If like me, you can't bare being engulfed by Parisien Souvenirs, you can always enjoy them vicariously in a book - Shop Image Graphics in Paris. I wrote about it here. PBer Jeanne sent me a photo of her Paris goodies. Merci Jeanne!!
