Printemps 3, watercolor on Etsy, 9" x 11"
~
For you Paris maniacs a few things to chew on this week-end before we get to ze back...
Paris poodles - miam
Even more miam-miam is Angelina's lovely charlotte de fraise and les domes...
Tarte chocolat or verrine de fraises anyone?
OK on to BACKS!
First of all, THANK YOU so much PBers who offered up their own personal experiences with sciatica and bad backs. BEAR and I are ever grateful for all your kind tips, advice and well wishes!!
We thought you might like to see the exercises we do now everyday...
2 X a day...
Plus click for 12 YOGA poses to strengthen Bad Backs!!

Probably forever if we want to stay pain-free.
We just started using 3-pound weights yesterday to strengthen the left leg a bit so it doesn't wobble on us :)
Let me tell you this stuff is tuff love.
No two ways about it, but well worth it.
I think it was Victor or Justine who mentioned the TENS Unit in an email. I am getting electrical treatment with this little marvel at physical therapy. And they said it would be fine to self-treat at home whenever I have pain. Voila!
Another PBer mentioned the McKenzie Method.
I asked about it at PT and they said, That's what you're getting. Ha! This New Zealand technique is a Godsend with such speedy results. Who knew?
My PT person also reccommended I start doing this Kundalini Yoga DVD I've just ordered, but I'm already doing cobra-like poses (see above) so anything that strengthens and stretches the back is the goal to keep in mind.
While I do my 15-20 minutes of exercise I've been listening to Annie Proulx on BBC Book of the Week...
This week's BBC reading is Proulx' Bird Cloud - on the building of her 'dream' house (substitute nightmare) in Wyoming - very good background noise whilst one exercises indeed.
I shall be looking up this book when I get to Paris mid-March...
I don't know how much dancing in the Paris streets I'll be doing but I shall do a mild jump for joy THANKS to all your kind thoughts and suggestions!
BONJOUR ZE BACK!!

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

I don't know how Scott does it? Well maybe if I looked like The Sartorialist I too could shoot people in Paris from the side, front or full on...Just give me a back and I know what to do with it. Very non-confrontational too. And a person's back can reveal alot about them, like Paul Bocuse here... I find it so much easier to shoot backs in Paris...

I wish I had the nerve to do otherwise but...
Give me a tarte any day and I can shoot it every which way, under any conditions.
With Frenchies...I'm sticking to the back. Look purple socks!
A purple hoodie and a scooter in Galeries Lafayette!
Chic Parisiens leaving the Louvre on a rainy day...
Apartment browsers with blue boots and ballerinas...
Apartment ads are a good place to catch the unaware Parisien...
Shirt tails hanging out...
Seems to be ever present on Paris streets...
A front shot of feet!
Is this woman about to yell at me?
I ran away vite, vite, vite!
I was with French Girl, my Paris fashion consultant on the Metro and she noted this Parisien was well dressed. When she saw me grab this shot as the door closed, she said,"I don't know you!"
Anne says I should just stake out one spot and shoot - no chasing down the street after "backs" or whatever...
Laduree BonaparteI think I'll stick to what's inside. Even when the vendeuse puts her hand in front of my camera and says, "NO PHOTOGRAPHS!" the tartes don't mind a bit and are happy to pose patiently for me.
For more Paris stalkings:
BONJOUR PARIS!
