A Soirée in Paris

Today I'm joining the talented and lovely Anita from Castles, Crowns and Cottages for a soirée in Paris!

I thought this was a fabulous idea and RSVP'd right away!

I'll begin my evening with this spectacular view. After all, can there a bad view in Paris? Not in my mind.

I'll wear this gown and bring this bottle of champagne ... we can't have a soirée without Perrier Jouet.

There are so many things that I love about Paris. Just to name a few ...

... the architecture! I'm amazed by the detail. My favourite periods range from the 17th century French Baroque and Classicism to the early 20th century Art Nouveau.

The magnificent art museums ...

the fabulous Opéra de Paris ...

my favourite dining ...

and exquisite shopping ...

the magnificent ~ La Tour Eiffel

Last, but certainly not least, the wonderful people. I've met some of the loveliest people in the world in Paris!

Look at the time! I mustn't be late ...

A recent discovery of mine from a weekend trip to Paris: these perfect summer bags by designer Delphine Delafon. Combining the nonchalant elegance of a luxe-rucksack with something more special: each bag is made to measure by the designer and you can personalise your bag by choosing the materials you want for the bag and the chain. Loves it!

Bed Side Story

I wish this was my bedroom...

But watching EAT PRAY LOVE in bed is not a bad alternative...

And I can paint onsite here in bed as well!

Jane in New Zealand of Sparrow Chatter kindly sent me her amazing picture of tarts of local cafe La Cloche...

It's on my desktop where I can gaze at it endlessly...

Next project is to paint these lovely tartes - wish me luck.

If I want a taste of Paris (my laptop is on the floor by my bed) I can visit with Inez de la Fressange

Her video jaunts around Paris are good for your accent and a delightful vicarious adventure. Do VISIT!

When your mattress is on the floor, you get a different perspective and long to re-arrange your walls etc. I did move things a bit yesterday :)

I'm making a long to-do list once I'm able to tackle yoga and tai chi etc.

I heard from Rivera, one of the EMT guys at Station:

'Carol, I hope you are doing better than when I first found you! I can tell you first hand when I saw her drawings I was absolutely astounded at how spot on they were! I am sorry I have not gotten around to this sooner, but having you as a patient was absolutely the highlight of my day! One of the best patients I ever had. I actually printed out the sketch and I am trying to show everyone I know at every opportunity!You are extremely talented and I wish you the best. I forget how many readers you told me you have... but add one more in me!'

What an adventure this had turned out to be! I'm off to the Doc shortly to find out what's what with my left leg.

To celebrate the launch of his Paris flagship, Giambattista Valli threw an intimate soiree for seriously stylish at Caviar Kaspia on the Place de la Madeleine. What was the theme?? Kings and Queens of the Couture Jungle?? Love these photos of the night (from the Purple Diary). Beautiful, lavishly decadent and seriously glamorous.

Elie Saab never disappoints. I've awaited with much anticipation for his collection. I was captivated by his stunningly romantic confections of flowing chiffon, tulle, and lace adorned with delicate beads and flowers, all tied with lovely ribbons .
