The best laid plans of mice and (wo)men oft go awry. Some people sit down in cafes to eat their pastries...
And some people fill up bags of pastries...
Telling themselves they're going to just paint them...Labels: Angelina, decadent desserts, olympe, Saint Honore

Printemps 3, watercolor on Etsy, 9" x 11"~
For you Paris maniacs a few things to chew on this week-end before we get to ze back...
Paris poodles - miam
Even more miam-miam is Angelina's lovely charlotte de fraise and les domes...
Tarte chocolat or verrine de fraises anyone?OK on to BACKS!
First of all, THANK YOU so much PBers who offered up their own personal experiences with sciatica and bad backs. BEAR and I are ever grateful for all your kind tips, advice and well wishes!!
We thought you might like to see the exercises we do now everyday...Plus click for 12 YOGA poses to strengthen Bad Backs!!
Probably forever if we want to stay pain-free.
We just started using 3-pound weights yesterday to strengthen the left leg a bit so it doesn't wobble on us :)
I think it was Victor or Justine who mentioned the TENS Unit in an email. I am getting electrical treatment with this little marvel at physical therapy. And they said it would be fine to self-treat at home whenever I have pain. Voila!
Another PBer mentioned the McKenzie Method.

Let me tell you this stuff is tuff love.
No two ways about it, but well worth it.

Another PBer mentioned the McKenzie Method. I asked about it at PT and they said, That's what you're getting. Ha! This New Zealand technique is a Godsend with such speedy results. Who knew?
My PT person also reccommended I start doing this Kundalini Yoga DVD I've just ordered, but I'm already doing cobra-like poses (see above) so anything that strengthens and stretches the back is the goal to keep in mind.
While I do my 15-20 minutes of exercise I've been listening to Annie Proulx on BBC Book of the Week...
This week's BBC reading is Proulx' Bird Cloud - on the building of her 'dream' house (substitute nightmare) in Wyoming - very good background noise whilst one exercises indeed.

When you're lying on the floor for a week...
(Because your mattress is on the floor)
Your perspective changes...
You notice you're surrounded by all this 'Paris Trash'!
You get a tremendous urge to do something about it...
A massive clean sweep seems very appealing...
But then it occurs that perhaps others would enjoy...
These French ribbons, biz cards, Laduree napkins, Angelina shopping bags, Gerard Mulot postcards and Gawd knows what else...
Lurking within boxes and files of saved Parisien bits and pieces.
So henceforth, any PBers buying a watercolor at Etsy or from me directly, will receive a surprise Gift-with-Purchase of some of the above. I can't guarantee exactly what you'll get and supplies are limited, but I promise it will be pretty and fun.
If like me, you can't bare being engulfed by Parisien Souvenirs, you can always enjoy them vicariously in a book - Shop Image Graphics in Paris. I wrote about it here. PBer Jeanne sent me a photo of her Paris goodies. Merci Jeanne!!

No matter what I say about not going back to old favorite places in Paris, Angelina is a must-do.
They've recently renovated and added a much bigger L-shaped patisserie...
A visit is absolutely required + some lingering...
Some of the most beautiful pastries in Paris...
To my eyes...
They seem to be constantly upping their game - elaborate mille-feuilles, the pastry of the month in October....
Macarons flavored ginger-cointreau called the 'Dita' after hot American burlesque queen, Dita Von Teese in Paris...
Angelina came up with the hot-dog-shapped 'macalon' macaron.
Lovely fruity verrines et tartes. And NO ONE shook their finger at me for taking photographs I might add, though I do try to be discrete and would never use flash.
After browsing the patisserie you can stop in Angelina's dining room...
For heavenly chocolat chaud...
And a chestnuty mont blanc.
You can buy take-away/emporte 'cold' hot chocolate in the shop..
Along with Angelina bougies, confiture, guimauve and pate de marron...
Outside a Paris dog patiently looks for a taxi, after drinking too much hot chocolate (some breeds are NOT chocolate-intolerant and I'm coming back as one of those)...
FYI:I've put up some watercolor sketch sheets of Angelina cups I painted this summer at a $pecial price on Etsy.
FYI: You may not have been getting your morning email hit of PB because of a change in Blogger's setup. Everything is fixed now. YAY!Missed posts are here:
