Tea it is!
Thank you PBers for all your dynamite suggestions of what to do in London.
I'll have to go to at least 3 - 5 afternoon teas per day to keep up. I'll be drowning in tea!
You reminded me how much I love to paint teacups. And of my former addiction as a serious cup-aholic. I may soon need a cup intervention. Am I headed for the Recovery Project again?
Word out is avoid The London Ritz like the plague.
Brit Chris said, "Do not bother with tea at the Ritz, expensive and sandwiches so pre-prepared and cold they make your teeth ache."
Advice taken. I'll stick with The Paris Ritz svp.
What goes better with tea than books?
Show me a London bookshop and I'm happy as a clam. Bear is always dragging me off to W.H.Smith in Paris.
I'll be dragging Bear off to Hatchards in Piccadilly...
They have the BEST, newest art books in the world...
I've blown many $ at Waterstone's - with every how-to watercolor book under the sun...though I probably could write my own by now. Nevermind...
Just a hop and a skip from the Chelsea Arts Club too.
La Seine Miniatures reminded me...One of my favourite places is "Books for Cooks" in Notting Hill (books and cookery classes).
4 Blenheim Crescent, Notting Hill, London, W11 1NN
It's been ages since I've visited... The V&A museum bookshop is not-to-be-missed...
Did I miss any of your favorite London bookshops?
Do tell svp.
BONJOUR MONDAY!

Bonjour Eiffel Tower - Day 2
Yay
I decided to walk down rue Cler enroute to Metro Ecole Militaire...
And don't ya know first thing that greeted me was Paris oysters!

Everyone was out cleaning their shop fronts...
Ooops, doggies too...
Fleurs...
Early morning chocolate browsing...

Early morning cafe sunning...
Enfin - Porte de Versailles & the SALON DU LIVRE 2009!

So many books! So many people looking at books!
Books on every possible subject including where to "bruncher" in Paris. We need this word in New York...
Philosophie books for kiddies - what is life, what is happiness
Wa'?
And so many kiddies. Students get in free!

I wish I had the nerve to ask this guy where he got his great scarf...
Anything with French writing on it is the best.
I look up and there it is -Paris is my oyster where ever I go.
I follow the sign...
Voila! I gotta have this. It's karmic destiny non?
The "line"...
My huitres...
I'm happy as a clam. I got the "Neptune" special. I need serious fuel to keep going.
Look! Tiny little books for tiny readers. After 4 hours of browsing I'm ready for the ER and resusatation...
I head for the Emergency Room...
And a transfusion.
My 1st Mont Blanc. 2 bites is enough. Too much schlag/whipped cream.

Bonsoir Eiffel Tower...

La Chambre Claire,original art, 5" x 7"

Do you have a favorite Paris bookstore?

Librairie des Abbesses,original art, 5" x 7"

Tell me your favorites...

Librairie La Hune at 170, Boulevard St Germain 75006 is a no miss for me every trip - they have unusual small edition artbooks from everywhere.

I'm nuts for Librairie Chantelivre - a very sophisticated kid's bookstore on 13, Rue Sèvres 75006.

I always manage to check into British W.H.Smith on rue de Rivoli
- they're very good for Brit artbooks.

BHV has a terrific book department too...

I just found Librairie Gourmande last trip...

And Anne showed me the Paris "Strand" bookstore - Mona Lisait.

Tons of discounted art coffee table books at 9, rue St-Martin. 75004

Don't you love looking over French guide books on Paris whether you can read them or not?

Only in Paris will you find these - mignonne
This fausse stack of antique books is a decal and at Ch. Vaux le Vicomte...

Another stack, this time macarons at the book stall at the Salon du Chocolat...
YUM!

PS
The Salon du Livre 09 will be going on the day I arrive...should I go?
~
BONJOUR LUNDI!
