Paris Hilton halted an interview with Piers Morgan to comfort her mother, Kathy, who burst into tears as the socialite described her infamous sex tape scandal.
A video of "The Simple Life" star and then-boyfriend Rick Salomon getting intimate in the bedroom hit the web in 2003 and was later released on DVD, entitled "One Night In Paris."
Hilton opened up about the ordeal during a joint interview with her mom Kathy on CNN talk show "Piers Morgan Tonight," which aired in on Tuesday night.
She says, "I just felt so betrayed. This was not some random guy, this was someone I was with for a few years. I thought I did (love him). I can't believe that he would do something like that to me.
"It's something that changed my life forever. This is not what I planned. I didn't want to be known as that.
"Now when people look at me, they think that I'm something that I'm not, just because of one incident one night with someone who I was in love with. People assume, 'Oh, she's a s**t', just because of one thing that happened to me."
Kathy was seen wiping away tears as the TV star continued, "I'll have to live with that for the rest of my life and explain it to my children. It's something that's changed my life forever. I'll never be able to erase that."
Morgan tried to continue his interview, but Hilton switched her attention to Kathy -- who was silently weeping at her daughter's revelations -- and gave her a hug. Morgan then offered to cut to an ad break as a crew member handed Paris a tissue to pass to her mother.
Kathy explains, "It was a very difficult time. We had therapy, and I think that that really helped (deal with the scandal)."

Paris Hilton entered Jay Leno's talk show on a pink and white motorbike wearing skin-tight white trousers, stilettos and a leather jacket.
The 30-year-old socialite later changed into a revealing little black dress while she touted her new reality show The World According to Paris.
“Nothing is off limits,” she said.
“So the cameras follow you everywhere?” asked Leno. “So, you’re in the bathtub going ‘hi guys’.'
“There is a little bath scene in there,” said the actress with a wry smile.
The Simple Life star also admitted to having a nightclub built into her house so she can party in seclusion.
“We don’t have TMZ waiting outside, it’s just private and nice,” said Hilton, who says her home-discothèque accommodates more than 200 people.
“I’ve had Hugh Hefner and the girls in there on the strip pole,” she said. “He loves my house parties.”

What’s the world like according to Paris Hilton? Pretty fabulous. Paris celebrated the launch of her new Oxygen reality show ‘The World According to Paris’ last night in Hollywood and tons of stars came out to support the heiress.
“My world is fun and exciting,” Paris said. “You never know what’s going to happen. We really live life to the fullest. I have amazing friends around me, an incredible boyfriend, and my family’s the best.”
Paris’ beau Cy Waits is a big part of the show, and seeing how affectionate they are together, we couldn’t help but wonder if marriage and kids are on Paris’ busy agenda.
She revealed, “We are so happy. It’s almost been a year and a half now so we’ll see what happens, but the show is going to show everything, so when that happens it will be on the show.”
Paris admits that her parents Rick and Kathy set a great example for her to follow when she does decide to tie the knot.
“I really look up to my parents relationship. I think its so special how in love they are and how they’ve been together since my mom was 15,” she said. “When I look for a man, I look for someone like my Dad. Someone who is loyal and a good man. I find that with Cy. He really makes me feel so safe and my family loves him so much. It’s a great feeling.”
So how will this show be different than say, The Simple Life? Paris admits she’s grown up since her days on the road with Nicole Richie, and she was just playing a role on the show.
“From watching me on the Simple Life for so long, people assume that’s who I am in real life, but that was just a fun character that I made up. I’m a tomboy at heart. I love to go fishing. I love to relax and do sports. I think people are so used to seeing me on the red carpet and at parties they don’t really know that side of me yet.”
With a new show, a relationship and promoting her million products, you would think Paris’ plate would be full, but that’s not the case yet. Next on her list? Recording another album.
“I’m still working on my album. I’ve changed the direction of it to house music so I’m redoing a lot of songs right now.”
The World According to Paris will debut on the Oxygen network on June 1st.
