Yesterday I played hookie and went off to see THE TOURIST.
Fortunately for us PBers, it starts off in Paris (AND IN FRENCH!)at 
Pretty soon we're on the 8:22 AM train with Angelina and Johnny making small talk enroute to where else? VENICE! 
Angelina's lips could sink a thousand ships...
And they do many times over...
But NO GONDOLAS! Except for background atmospheric effects.
I was a tad disheartened...
I had high hopes for at least one trist...
One stolen kiss whilst riding a gondola. No such luck.
But there is plenty else to love if you love Venice...
Or if you love Johnny,
Who plays the awkward schlumpy math teacher from WI Angie picks up on that train. I have high hopes my Paris-to-Venice train ride will be as eventful...sigh 
Angie kidnaps Johnny off to her 'Doges' deluxe suite at Hotel Danieli (at ***** and 1.770 euros for a room with a lagoon view). This is the closest I will get to such luxe, calme et volupte...

In fact Angie is quite the grande dame throughout this movie - no Laura Crofting about here in rubber diving suits... 
I could have used a few more dress changes but that's just moi...
Of course there's a grand ball in a FAB palazzo and whoever said there is no chemistry between these two, well go see for yourself and report back.
One thing before I go to Venice - I will definitely search out these giant shade Angies wearing. Tres elegante non? If you want some week-end fun at an entertaining old-style caper and you LOVE Paris, Venice, Johnny and Angela, then do see THE TOURIST.Thursday, December 30, 2010
Yesterday I had a British moment (OK several hours). Firstly I succombed to a jar of orange marmelade (OK it was Sarabeth's not British). Then I went to see The King's Speech very spur of the moment and I LOVED it, but more about that later.
Have I told you about the London Transport Museum? I don't think I have and it ties in a bit with a small stretch of the imagination...
Probably an oft overlooked London museum - it's really loads of fun.
Floors and floors of British travel immersion awaits you from all periods of history....
AND you can hop aboard many trains...
Just 'Mind the gap', 'Keep clear of the doors' and 'DON'T SPIT'!
It's tucked in a corner of Covent Garden and surrounded by fabulous outdoor eating stalls = not-to-be-missed. Plus your entry ticket is good for a years worth of visits as many times as you wish.
I loved the old graphis particularly...

The King's Speech, based on old diaries found by speech therapist Australian Lionel Logue's grandson in the attic. 
I was expecting the usual Masterpiece Theatre concoction...
Instead it's a griping thriller both brave, witty and all-engrossing with superb acting. I can't think of a better movie to see this holiday week-end. BONJOUR THE KING'S SPEECH!

'The super hero Hrithik Roshan and his short history'
Hrithik Roshan is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood films. After having appeared in films as a child actor in the 1980s, Roshan made his film ....Guzaarish.
Hrithik Roshan (Hindi: ऋतिक रोशन [ˈrɪtɪk ˈroːʃən]; born 10 January 1974) is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood films.
After having appeared in films as a child actor in the 1980s, Roshan made his film debut in a leading role in Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000) for which Roshan earned his Filmfare Awards for Best Actor and Best Male Debut. In 2001, he went on to appear in the melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., which became India's highest-grossing film in the overseas market and his biggest commercial success to date.
Roshan received his third Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 2006 for his performance in the action film Dhoom 2. He later received critical acclaim for his performance in Jodhaa Akbar, for which he received his first international award at the Golden Minbar International Film Festival. These accomplishments have established him as a leading contemporary actor of Hindi cinema.

Early career, until 1999-
Roshan's first movie role was as a child artist when he was six years old in the 80s movie Aasha, where he appeared in a dance sequence as an extra. Roshan went on to play minor roles in Aap Ke Deewane (1980) and Bhagwan Dada (1986) both of which starred his father Rakesh Roshan in the leading role. He then became an assistant director assisting in the production of his father's films Karan Arjun (1995) and Koyla (1997).

Personal life-
Roshan was born in Mumbai to a Punjabi Hindu family of cinema personalities. His father, film director Rakesh Roshan, is the son of music director Roshan, while his mother, Pinky, is the daughter of producer and director J. Om Prakash. Hrithik has an elder sister, Sunaina. His uncle Rajesh Roshan is a famous music director. As a child, Roshan attended the Bombay Scottish School. He later attended Sydenham College, where he did his Bachelors in Commerce.Hrithik, with his wife Susanne on the extreme right, and his sister-in-law in between.
Roshan is married to Suzanne Roshan, owner of Suzanne Roshan's House of Design and daughter of actor Sanjay Khan. The couple have two sons, Hrehaan, born in 2006 and Hridhaan born in 2008. Roshan has two thumbs on his right hand. Although he usually hides it in his films, in Koi... Mil Gaya it was not hidden, and even used as a minor plot point, as the alien was designed to also have two thumbs.

Like a typical Capricornian, Hrithik Roshan was unable to make up his mind whether he would star in the remake of Agneepath. After all, stepping into the best job.
n 2000, Roshan made his film debut as the leading man in the film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai opposite another debutante actress Amisha Patel. The film, which was directed by his father and saw him playing a double role, proved to be very successful at the box office, becoming the highest grossing film of 2000 and winner of the Filmfare Best Movie Award. Roshan's performance was well-received, and the film made him an overnight star.
He eventually received both the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award and the Filmfare Best Actor Award for the role. The film entered the Limca Book of Records in 2003 for the most number of awards won by a Bollywood film - 102 awards.
