Chocolate Banana Donuts...need I say more?
I found this recipe in Better Homes & Gardens Magazine. I've been craving them ever since.
ingredients
5-1/2 to 6-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 3 medium bananas, mashed (1 cup)
- 2 eggs, plus 2 egg yolks
- Vegetable oil for deep-fat frying
- 1 recipe Glaze (below)
directions
1. In bowl combine 1-1/2 cups of the flour, the sugar, yeast, and 1 tsp. salt; set aside. In saucepan combine milk and butter. Heat until warm (125 degrees F). Add to flour mixture. Add bananas, eggs, and yolks. With mixer, beat on medium 2 minutes. Stir in 3-1/2 cups flour, adding additional flour 1/4 cup at a time. (Dough will be sticky.) Transfer to a buttered bowl; turn to coat surface. Cover; let rise 1 hour or until doubled.
2. On floured surface roll dough to 3/8-inch thickness. Cut with floured 2-1/2-inch doughnut cutter. Reroll dough and repeat. Place cutouts on baking sheet. Cover; let rise 30 minutes or until doubled.
3. Fry a few at a time in hot oil (365 degrees F) for 2 minutes or until golden; turning once. Remove with slotted spoon; drain. Dip in glaze. Makes 30 doughnuts plus holes.
Glaze: In microwave-safe bowl combine 1/2 cup semi- sweet chocolate pieces, 1/4 cup whipping cream, and 2 Tbsp. butter. Microwave 1 minute; stir. Microwave 30 seconds more. Whisk in 3/4 cup powdered sugar until smooth and 2 tsp. light-color corn syrup.

If you don't know what Monkey Bread is it's time to find out!
This is a delicious breakfast snack, or dessert. I have found people love it for both.
Every time I have made it its a huge hit.
Its sugary, sweet and just the right amount of cinnamon a dough.
Ingredients
- 3 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup white sugar
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Directions
- Mix together 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
- Quarter the biscuits and then roll into small ping-pong sized balls. Dip and roll biscuits into sugar mixture, and place in a greased bunt pan. Do this until all biscuits are used.
- Melt butter or margarine, and mix in 3/4 cup sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. Pour mixture over biscuits. * you may not use all of the mixture, pour until completely covered*
- Bake in a preheated 350 degree F (175 degrees C) oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
- *note that if you do not use a bunt pan baking time will be longer to bake the center of the bread.
Here is something quite strange. Not everybody can look at a lizard and think of how tasty they can be but in the pictures you see a man catching a lizard to do just that. Their population is large enough for people to hunt them down for food. Desert is their habitat and it is quite common to hunt them for food. It is sad that they are killed just for their tails and one can only hope that this killing doesn’t lead to their extinction.
These lizards can be found in the desert, hiding under rocks. You will see how their tails are used to make a dish. The rest of the body gets wasted. They are cooked in a pot along with vegetables and rice. Although they don’t look very appetizing, in places where food is scarce, I suppose this is like a luxury.
