"A Nation of Shopkeepers" ("L'Angleterre est une nation de boutiquiers") is the disparaging remark supposedly made by Napoleon to describe the U.K. but I think it applies as well to Paris. When M. asked me to paint a portrait of her mother's two cats in front of a Paris Boutique (with her mom's name on it!) I started looking again at all my photos of Parisien shops....
It's my belief that if you give a Parisien a few meters,
(1 Meter = 3.2808399 Feet) they will create a wonderful shop you cannot pass by without looking in, much less resist going inside....This is maybe the tiniest porcelaine shop ever, located in the 6th, but what treasures lurk within and the vitrine is full of them to temp you to come back when it's open...

Ballerinas belong in a tiny shop don't they?
Little ice cream shops make you feel less guilty about the calories perhaps..?
Here are two tiny shops side by side in the Marais, which is full of these hole-the-wall wonders...
A cheese shop should be small and intimate shouldn't it, to capture all the aromas?
Flower shops can spread their wares on the street..
The florist chain Nom de la Rose are usually tiny...
On rue Vavin, this mini barber only cuts kids hair and it's un peu cher too!
Sometimes the smallest shops like this tabac have the biggest signs!
There are plenty of these small fruitiers, you just may not have noticed them, they are that small.
I love this game shop, Rouge et Noir on rue Vavin (a street full of little shops) and everything inside is either red, black or both.
Here's a favorite PB petite boutique....ahem
